If your version of a republican is a self-described progressive who seems to say exactly what the crowd at the time wants to hear, then vote for Mr. Romney. While I may or may not have to make that vote in November, why not align yourself with TRUE conservative principles: Balanced budgets, smaller government, free markets that aren’t manipulated by the shills the banks place in office, lower taxes and best of all NO CAMPAIGN AIDS THAT PUBLICLY STATE THEY DON’T THINK OBAMA CARE WILL OR SHOULD BE REPEALED IN ITS ENTIRETY. I will leave you to your own devices to come up with that answer, but the only reason to vote for Mr. Romney is so you can bet whether he or Obama says “um” more times. This is Mr. Electable?

  • If this is what you have to tell the candidate you are supporting, why are you supporting him? At this stage in the game, you could have supported any of them, had to worry less about how “conservative” they were, and if Mr. Romney had still won you could have supported him then. I don’t get it?

Side note: I really don’t want to have to pick between four more years of Barry 0 or eight years (you would have to re-elect him or risk getting another progressive democrat) of Mr. Romney. Please don’t pick someone based on what you believe to be their “electability”. Please vote for the candidate who’s ideals and record reflect your thoughts, not on the package in which they are wrapped. ABO doesn’t need to start until after the RNC.

  • @Lucy

I used to do this. The last soldier I thanked told me the second amendment doesn’t apply to individual citizens after he started a political discussion with me. He also tried to pass off several other “things the military told him” about the Constitution until I pulled out my pocket version to show him what it says. It’s now harder for me thank soldiers simply for being soldiers without knowing why they decided to become one.

I called it, first try lol

  • Why do I spend time trying to put together decently written comments in an attempt to be thought provoking when they only seem to have a 25% chance of actually being posted by this website?

Just to spite me though, this one will get through just fine…

Mr. Santorum and Dr. Paul are largely being ignored by the media as it clamors for more blood from the showdown between the establishment’s candidates (explained in my first post). The bias, which is extremely obvious in the case of Dr. Paul, tells me that both Mr. Santorum and Dr. Paul would be better candidates in my opinion.

Santorum scares the s&!t out of me. He consistently calls for the federal government to legislate morality for all Americans and his desire for war appears to be great. Quite honestly it sounds like he is looking for a fight, which is impractical if you are truly serious about cutting the wasteful and illegal stuff from government and paying off the National debt (awful hard to do when these “conflicts” run into the trillions of dollars).

That leaves Dr. Paul, whom I throw my support behind. I’m sick of this “dangerous” foreign policy talk. Most people who state this have only heard what others have said about it and have not studied it. If you don’t think there is a way to maintain our security with less than 900 overseas military installations you are part of the progressive establishment. Meaningful cuts can be made in this area while making the military more efficient and effective. Also, Dr. Paul says constantly that he is against unilateral intervention from the executive branch, but rather that Congress should declare and fund the action, then he’ll go win it. But misquoting and misrepresenting people is the name of the game, right

There are a lot of people here who claim they wish to reject the republican establishment candidate. However, I don’t understand how this desire leads you to Mr. Gingrich. It has to be painfully obvious now that the tea party is just a tool of that same establishment. When the Tea Party movement was happening in 2010, it was solely based on Citizens coming together and finding candidates that would represent smaller, legal (read: Constitutional) government and fiscal conservatism. We did not let the media tell us who our Tea Party favorites were. Now we are told who the media thinks are Tea Party choices, and there is seemingly little input from the people who actually started and participated in the Tea Party making endorsements from the media’s version nearly as damning as one from a progressive republican.

It is obvious the republican establishment is split as to who they want to anoint the Republican candidate. The part that wanted Mr. Romney are now locked in a (I hope) death struggle with those who just went along it, as the latter have taken Mr. Gingrich’s candidacy as an opportunity take back power within the establishment. The American Citizens are being played like a shiny new fiddle. This struggle is beneficial for both factions because it give the media an excuse to exclude the two other candidates from discussion, ensuring an establishment candidate gets the nod.

Refuse the ruse! A vote for Mr. Romney or Mr. Gingrich is a vote for the establishment!
