  • Stu did good. He even gave the regime the benefit of an 8.1% unemp rate. However, if I may add, one thing Stu did not mention was that the labor participation rate in America is what’s really driving down unemployment. There are more people today that can and want to work, but have gotten frustrated and given up. Look it up. The only reason unemployment keeps dropping is because they are not adding in those that can and want to work but have given up.

Here’s a bag of poo and a fan. Do want u want with it.

  • Well, CA may be in bad shape, but the mid-south ain’t a whole lot better. True, the area is better off than CA, but apparently, we missed the “recovery” here as well. I know several folks in their 50′s and higher that are tired, have given up, and are no longer looking for that “career job”. Some of these folks could start up small businesses but they are tired and have given up on the system.

In today’s economy, corporations are told to trim opex to the bare minimum. The folks at the top get richer and richer, while the middle income workers are working longer and harder than they are have before…and they AREN’T making anymore than they were two to three years ago.

This is the new economy folks…Government involvement, Corp fat cats getting fatter, 25 to 50 year olds are working their @$$ off (with the mind set of “At least I’ve got a job”), under 25′s are more unemployed than ever, over 50′s are getting more and more frustrated, and lack of raises / benefits are growing (in jobs).

According to the gov, unemployement is 8.1%. Ha. One thing we are not told about is the Labor Partcipation Rate. This is a true number and I ask you to look it up yourself. If they would be honest and count the folks that have dropped out and can work, we would be at 9.7%!! Job creation has been uber minimal since ‘09. It is the folks dropping out that is growing. Of course, The gov won’t count those folks, so it looks like the unemployment rate is actually decreasing.

  • In reply to Encinom,

Actually, I have to agree with you…In regards to corporations holding salaries steady, pushing for cheaper labor, and corps having all time high profits, he is right. Companies are holding their cash. They are not paying anyone, anymore. One person now does the job of two, maybe three people (Whether it is sales, manufacturing, etc, all companies are doing this). I should know. I am part of one. Their profits are at all time highs…yet, there are less raises and more focus on cutting op-ex. Not to mention, companies are looking for a way to outsource their labor. While this has been happening for years, it is more prevalent now.

Now, here is where I disagree with Encinom. Why are corporations doing this?…It is because they are being squeezed…forced if you will to make moves that in the end hurt the American worker. They are over taxed, over-regulated, and losing opps to foreign countries. While over-regulation and taxation has been happening for years, it has only grown and become more prevalent under this administration. There is a fog and the corps are simply hedging their bets. I mean, why else sit on record high profits? Its no different than you saving money for an inevitable disaster. You simply save…hedge your bets. You cut spending, reduce energy cost (lower heat, raise AC, etc.), eat in more, whatever. Point is, corps are leveraging for something.

You want American corps to get competitive again?…Provide them the ability to.

  • Gypsy,

I just don’t think we would let that happen. Call it foolishness, but to me, that would be the ultimate end of America…that our intelligence would be so bad that we would let something like that happen that would literally destroy America, I just don’t think so.

    Not practical.

9/11 was something entirely different. An EMP would have to be an extrememly, I mean extremely thought out. There would have to be massive insider dealing. As much as I dislike the current regime, there is no way that they, or anyone inside the regime, would allow this to happen.

Go to Washington in the AM and demand answers if you want to. I encourage it. However, the rest of America will go to work, get married, and have kids.
