What is the value of faith which hasn’t been tested?
It’s easy to resist temptations if they have all been erradicated from the world. It’s not as though we can ever acheive heaven on this earth (or should even try for that matter). There is no virtue without sin.

So, Rush is not acceptable, but Sen. Robert Byrd was? I detect either a flaw in reasoning or some serious lack of objectivity.
‘The Proof of Innocence’: Read the Math Problem That Got One Man Out of a Traffic Ticket

You do not have to prove that you are innocent. They have to prove that you are guilty. Those are two completely different things. All you have to do, as a defendant is to give at least one other alternative possibility which will make something (in this case, observations) possible. Once there are two possibilities, since there is a presumption of innocence, you cannot be found guilty (unless they can prove that the alternative possibility is not actually possible in this case).

What Did This Former Senior Staffer Have to Say About Ron Paul’s Denial of 9/11 Conspiracy Theories?
January 2, 2012 at 7:39pm
Just about everyone I’ve talked with has at least considered the claims of the “9/11 Truthers”, then rejected those claims based on evidence, facts, research, logic and reasoning. However, we *did* consider it.
Personally, I would be more concerened if a senator or candidate never gave it a second thought.

If plagues, disease and sickness were all righteous punishments handed down by God, then why would Jesus tend to lepers?
I don’t have an answer, of course, but I find it an interesting question to consider when people start making the claim that some sickness, natural disaster or unfortuante event is Gods punishment for wickedness or sin.

I find that on many topics, I play the part of the fool. I would hate to lose out on knowledge simply because someone wrote me off.
The original poster does not appear to be trolling with his comment, and obviously has a love of science, so I’ll not label him as a fool. I also do not dismiss the possibility that I may, once again, be the participant with some fundamental misunderstanding of things (Just ask my wife and kids, they’ll be quick to tell ya I can be an idiot *grin*).
I’d rather stick to the science and not engage in ad-hominem attacks. I find that things just work out to be more productive and enjoyable that way. Besides, I am thankfull that the original poster has the intellectual integrity to defend and expound on his assertions.

I have always enjoyed his quote: “Two things are infinite: the universe and human stupidity; and I’m not sure about the the universe.”
*grin*

It’s just a conversation. They start up and lead to a variety of topics. I don’t generally pass up the opportunity to have a meaningfull exchange with someone simply because the topic that it led to is not directly related to the original subject.
In short, I don’t eschew knowledge and human contact simply because it was unexpected or off-topic.
