  Oh and I have never used corporal punishment ever with my children who are now grown and wonderful people.

  I wonder what it would be like to go from that culture to here and have your daughter attending school. I got a little of the flavor being stationed in Saudi Arabia then going back with my husband and children as a wife. I wore a headscarf and an abayah and I had my daughter start wearing one when she was 7 because she was tall as most young teen girls and had long blond hair. Men would come up and touch her braid which made me nervous so she covered.
  If I had lived in THAT culture my whole life and then come here with a teen daughter it would be TERRIFYING! That plus the culture there accepts corporal punishment as a matter of course. Given that maybe I would have reacted the same way. Not to mention that maybe I would be afraid that the dad might kill her if her behavior continued in that way.
  I am NOT in any way condoning her behavior just thinking about the culture and fear. Go back in our culture one hundred years and beating a child would not seem that odd.

  I am for freedom and would NEVER support Sharia law here.

  The money was not real, it was things like value of stocks which plummeted. No real physical money.

  Hmm, it seems to me he is just preaching that God Loves us and we should trust God in all things. He is not here to teach all things, he is just the messenger to encourage people to come to God, when they do he says to find a church. That is where they would learn more about Satan etc. Think of it like kindergarten. Why would you teach EVERYTHING to a kindergartener? Even in the Bible it talks about starting on milk (in learning about Jesus).

  Why if one knew NOTHING about God or Jesus would you want to scare them with fire and brimstone? That would turn them away, God is a God of love. I am Catholic and study the Bible and my faith but I applaud anyone who brings people to the Lord.

  Most kids DO have respect for others and do good, beating a child and swearing to include saying she does not deserve to live in their home is abuse and always has been. HE should know the law and should have followed it. He was evil and her mother was evil as well. I AM a conservative have NEVER been spanked OR spanked my children who are grown. My daughter is a doctor and my son works with abused dogs. They are BOTH wonderful, have always been respectful and caring.

  Washboards, tubs etc can be found at Lehman’s a company that caters to the Amish, I would recomend a hand washer they sell. You load the clothes in and turn a crank, today’s clothes would not do well with a wash board. you can also use it to make butter ( our Amish neighbors have one JUST for that purpose).

  @encinom so WE are the tinfoil hat people?? You just made Glenn’s point by saying (what we already know) that the airwaves are owned by the government (which USED to be OF the people but now is OF the ruling class) Our worry is the continued power grab of the executive branch with no push back from the legislative or judicial branch.

  I told my husband about this and he made the comment that IF they keep the TV and radio turned off too long, the ‘masses” will get really pissed off, the 99% wound not have their TV

  I always liked Olive Garden’s food and the restaurant. I am sad that I will no longer go there. If an American Flag displayed in the United States is deemed to be offensive to patrons then I can no longer go to that establishment. Goodbye Olive Garden.
