  • Let me get this straight. MSNBC anchors can use “slut” all the time when refering to conservatives, but if they use a similar term for the president, they are suspended indefinitly? And no one else sees the hypocracy in this?

  • “The initiative is known as the International Scan Program”

OOPS we ment to say… “National SCAM Program.”

  • Bachman came out on top in my opinion. All the experts said that Romney won, but looking at his answers, I think he was easily passed by all the rest except Pawlenty.

  • Lets set aside the argument of “is it biased, is it not”, this is the reason why what the Whitehouse did is absolutely wrong. It puts the White House in the position of deciding what is newsworthy or not. This is absolutely bad policy. No longer is the newspaper free to decide what is news or not, now it must get government approval before starting the presses or suffer the consequences of angering the Whitehouse. This is the first steps of state CONTROLED media.

  • Thanks to the blaze for coming out with this in depth analysis of the NPR videos. I appreaciate the fair look. It really takes him from looking like satan incarnate (really quite unfair), to just simply a person, one with some really bad judgement and opinions, but a person none the less.

“I once travelled to Qatar on business. While there, I sat across 10 to 12 Muslim men who told me how they rejoiced when America was attacked on 9/11.
They also made known to me their desire that every single Jew and American on the planet be eviscerated.
You don’t know what the hell you’re talking about. We are dealing with a backward and necrophile culture when it comes to Islam.”

You make it sound like I was saying the people in the middle east are a peaceful, kind, and gentle people. If you read my post, I did not say that the people over there do not hate the US, and did not enjoy watching the 9/11 attacks. In fact, I said that the people over there have largely accepted a religion of violence and hate. This is wrong to do. I fully agree that they have a culture that is full of evil. I also spoke of how they need to change that and that there is some hope that many may and will (example of Dr. Jasser).

As for the child bride thing, I simply do not agree that the social norms of today can be fairly pressed upon a culture from over 1000 years ago. I do not support such actions in the least, but a different time has different social norms, and to judge the norms of that day by the norms of this day is just not fair. The people of each time determine the social norms of the said time. We have every right to say today that certain social norms are acceptable or unacceptable for us today, because we, the people of this time, are the stewards of society’s norms. However, people of other times must be judged according to the norms or their own time.

  • Really good quote, thanks for sharing.

@ AriBenTZion You know, it’s really not fair to impose our interpretation of morality on cultures of over 1000 years ago (Mohammad’s choice of wife age). Marriage at a young age was extremely common in that timeframe of the world, and even between older men and young women. It is quite likely that when Mary (the mother of Christ) was espoused to Joseph, she was likely between 12 and 15 years old, and Joseph could likely have been well older than that. That is not to justify it today. It is a practice that should not continue into this modern age.

However, murder, rape, incest, and “excessive” abuse (hmm, think honor killings) have always been considered bad in all societies. All this should and can be spoken out on, about how people of today should act. Really the people in the middle east need to accept a religion of peace, and leave behind the bloody, hateful, and destructive religion that is so prevalent there. (Thankfully there are some who have, like Dr. Zuhdi Jasser).

  • There is a Biblical phrase for this kind of thing Lawrence is doing, something like “straining at a gnat and swallowing a camel!”

  • @kryptonite
Why are you changing the subject? The discussion is on this NYU professor. You seem all ready to excuse his actions by comparing it to some anonymous trolls who post on blog sites. Any idiot knows that every blogsite has its trolls. No need to do some generalized statement about “Blazers.” It serves no purpose other than to try and insult someone on this site.
As for the professor, and the same for any else who justify rape and sexual assualt, their words are as condemnable as any who speak about such acts as justified, or even as a “joke.”

  • Thank heavens he exercised his right to free speech. It makes it easier for people to tell the creeps in this world from those who have noble intentions. Actually we need more people like this to voice their opinion. Please speak out! Don’t hide your agenda. “Let’s have the discussion.”
