Iowa Wrestling Star Withdraws From Match — Faith Won’t Let Him Wrestle a Girl
February 18, 2011 at 12:14pm
It isn’t about her physical abilties. It is about what is prudent for young men to be taught about fighting girls. This young man got the point. Yes, she got an empty win, but I blame her parents for setting her up to compete in a sport that is clearly to the physical advantage of boys/men and that is violent in nature. We should all teach our girls to be as physically and intellectually as strong as they can be in order to be successful in life. But, you don’t have to throw them on a wrestling mat with a boy to try and accomplish that.

Good for him. I don‘t know why society says it’s okay for boys to wrestle down girls anyway? What does it prove? If girls want self confidence (for defending themselves) and a physical challenge, there is always martial arts. Wrestling is about overpowering and dominating your opponent – is that what we want our boys to do with our young women? I admire young girls’ drive and determination in all things of course, but I also think it is okay to separate the genders in things like this. Plus, the young man was homeschooled and hadn’t been socialized to accept boys treating girls like, “one of the guys”.
CBS News Correspondent Subjected to ‘Brutal and Sustained Sexual Assault’ in Egypt

homesick: your comments make me sad. That’s like saying to women, “hey, you were wearing a skirt, so you deserved to get raped”, or “she had on too much makeup and provoked it” … or any other such nonsense. How about: the MEN who rape/beat women are at fault? How about WHAT THE HELL IS WRONG WITH HUMAN BEINGS when we say, “she deserved it?” And she’s “dumb” too you say? I’m pretty sure she went there to do her job. Don’t try and judge whether or not doing her JOB was a good idea or not. Disgusting.

@letusreason: What does it mean you ask? Concert bumps? Headlines have stated, “brutal and sustained sexual assault” – do you need a picture?

@ Crew: What’s the big deal. We’ve been taught by liberals for years that Family Planning is there to fix these things.
…bet she‘s singin’ a different tune now.
Okay, seriously? That is your comment? Are you insinuating that rape is a good way to teach someone a lesson? And just how do you know what this reporter’s political or moral beliefs are in terms of “family planning?” Stop. Put on your big-boy hat for a minute and think.

@fool: You are ignorant. You accuse others of bigotry before you know your facts. Women in Saudi Arabia and other nations under Sharia can execute/stone/punish women who are raped for bringing disgrace upon their family. Did you really not know that, or are you chosing to be blind?
U.S. Intel Director Also Refuses to Recognize Muslim Brotherhood As Extremist
February 11, 2011 at 6:41pm
Butcher: no, I would not advocate throwing all Muslims out … Of corse not. I wanted to ensure you were not implying Islam is peaceful. Non- practicing Muslims, and those who are Muslims by cultural affiliation only are not those I am concerned with. I would love to argue Bible vs. Quran with you, but I am simply exhausted from the compare/contrast debate. What I will say, however, is that one fundamental difference is this… The bible is man‘s interpretation of God’s word. The Quran is believed to BE God’s word and not meant to be interpreted. This issue brings up many complexities when discussing what each religion advocates.
U.S. Intel Director Also Refuses to Recognize Muslim Brotherhood As Extremist
February 10, 2011 at 9:26pm
Mrbutcher: I challenge your assertion or implied assertion, that Islam is inherently peaceful. Mohammad’s revelations began rather benevolently, but once he became a warrior and traveled to Medina where he killed hundreds (personally), his revelations changed, and even superseded previous ones from earlier years …. Have you read the Suras? Chronologically? His words (as he said were God’s) were all about conquering non-Muslims … those must submit or die. Facts. There are vast numbers of Muslims in this world who have no idea about their own religion, but will defend its beliefs in ignorance. I think you may fall into that category. I could go on, but the point is, we all need some education here. For those who say Islam is peaceful – you don’t understand it. For those who believe Islam is dangerous, you should really get to learn why ….
