  When I was little, one of my younger cousins, would say cuss words and make me laugh. Which would upset my parents and his parents. They would always say “Stop laughing. Laughing only ecourages him to do it more.” I couldn’t help it. Which brings me to Maher. Why does HE keep doing it? Nobody’s laughing.

  So, Rep. Clyburn thinks it would be okay to put limits on free speech, when it disagrees with his own positions? Wonder how he felt when Dr. King’s freedom of speech was being limited by being beaten and thrown in jail when Dr. King disagreed with the positions of the white folks in power at the time? Hmmmm? When is limiting speech ever a good thing? And please, don’t throw the “yelling fire in a crowded theater” argument at me, because even THAT isn’t absolute. There IS a time to yell fire in a crowded theater – when the goddam theater is on fire!

  Exactly right. What they are really talking about is a way to ration care, without having to actually say that. They want people to “voluntarily” forego treatments. Funny, Harry Reid also thinks that the federal income tax is “voluntary.” I wonder if there’s a connection?

  Totally and completely assinine. There is no occurrence of the phrase “church and state” anywhere in the Constitution. The First Amendment seeks to prevent there from being an official “state religion”. It is to protect freedom OF religion, not freedom FROM religion.
