  • Mod is Best: Ohio did vote down Senate Bill 5, and in doing so, created the results we are seeing now. The City of Marion announced a 25% police and fire workforce reduction once the bill failed; the fire union rep agreed to enough cuts (almost the same as the SB5 would have allowed) that the firefighters were kept on the job. The police union refuses to lower the wages and/or pay more for benefits, so their “brother” officers will be laid off. How exactly did losing 25% of your union workforce help the union? How did it help the police officers that are being laid off?

I know quite a few teachers and public school system folks who railed against the bill, and when I asked them how they felt about their co-workers being fired to support their benefits package, they couldn’t come up with an answer. One did say that she hadn’t considered it, and another told me “that won’t happen.” For these fine people, I post every story I find about workforce reduction that can be attributed to SB5 being overturned on referendum. In November I told them that no whining would be permitted as the layoffs began, and that I would remind them that they made the choice, and that their choice had consequences. Tough Love!

  • Max – It may not be backed by anything, but it’s real enough to ruin this country for a generation, if not permanently. That’s real.

  • As a Hungarian-German-Irish-Prussian American, I am offended that people refer to me as white. Isn’t it clear what my background is? Why do people call me white or Caucasian? None of my family is from the Caucasus Region.

Could it be that I am being discriminated against? All these people who don’t use my full lineage in describing me must be RACISTS!

This dramatization is brought to you by the Democrat Party. If you feel that you’re not getting your “fair share,” call us so we can help you learn how to be offended, and how to help get us elected so we can send more Obama money back to you via unsustainable social programs. Please DO NOT contact the Democrat Party after the United States economy collapses. At that point, YOYO.

  • It takes a great deal of courage to hurt family members of a fellow military member? Whether or not Ventura is a kook, he handled this badly. Keep in mind that different branches of the service, especially those who place themselves in harm’s way most often (Seals), generally have internal customs. I would expect that Mr. Ventura violated one such custom in his chosen behavior and had the mark to show for it.

At least Ventura didn’t press charges or file suit. I don‘t know what you would see from some members of today’s “all-inclusive, touchy-feeley” Obama military; probably a class-action suit for being yelled at during basic training.

  • ARSILHOUETTE: I disagree that the GSA are addressing the controversy. Even their chosen author, with two more books still to write, punted on it.

Deny, attack, deny, attack… It‘s that conservative Glenn Beck’s fault. Neither the GSA nor the book’s author discuss that this information comes from a former girl scout – it’s just a story that big bad Glenn Beck created out of nothing. Nothing to see here, now move along but keep your girls attending the reeducation camps and buy the cookies.

  • Bad! Bad! BadDoggy! The Constitution is the supreme law when it clearly states so. The 14th amendment to the Constitution states in part, “No state shall make or enforce any law which shall abridge the privileges or immunities of citizens of the United States.” The right to keep and bear arms is a right of every United States citizen under the 2nd amendment, therefore, the individual states have no authority to override this right. In practice, many states do exactly this; I continue to hope that we can restore things in this country to their proper order.

  • BanByHuffpo: Actually, who owns the house depends on the state in which it is located. In title-theory states you own the house until the bank completes foreclosure, and the property is sold for the remaining balance on the home. Ohio is a title-theory state and when you leave the closing table, you own the house. Your ownership is subject to a mortgage note, but it is ownership. In lien-theory states, ownership is more like buying a car using a loan; the bank retains a lien on the home and you don’t get your “free-and-clear” deed until the last payment is made or the note is paid off.
