  • @Winedude well said.

  • Our father, ‘Satan’ … REALLY??!!

This is the point of this movement. We obviously do not believe in any Satan, let alone claim he is our FATHER… However, as a Christian, you should believe that God is our father, too, and that he loves us just the same as you. The contradiction here is Christians being so condemning of other perfectly good people even though the belong to a religion that specifically teaches them to do the opposite!!

  • I actually respect this small thread of comments, as you guys aren’t bashing atheists as people. You are backing your beliefs, being respectful and loving as Jesus tells Christians to be, and actually being concerned about our futures. That’s pretty cool.

I do have a legitimate question, though. What do you think is the point of praying if all of our fate’s are predetermined? I am not mocking you guys at all, I’m being sincere.

  • I‘m pretty sure Christmas is the only ’Christian holiday’ atheists ask to be paid on (I could honestly be forgetting one), and that’s mainly because Christmas is definitely more than a Christian holiday. Also, I would be willing to work on Christmas but because most places are closed on Christmas I cannot, which means I would be losing pay, completely out of my control, solely because I am not a Christian.
Side note: what percentage of Christmas is actually spent celebrating Jesus’ birth by Christians? I know most of my Christian friends only spend one hour of the whole Christmas season in church. What percentage of Easter is actually spend celebrating Jesus’ resurrection? Same situation with Christmas. Didn’t see anything about Santa, the Easter bunny, or gifts for yourself in the bible.

  • We aren’t attempting to push atheism, and your beliefs are pushed on us daily as our laws are formed off of Christian beliefs that we do not agree with. Plenty of things that have no effect on you, such as homosexual marriage, are outlawed because of Christian ideals. When did an atheist ever force you to do anything?

  • I do not need security or affirmation in being an atheist. I am proud to say that I have done a lot of research and came to the conclusion that I can only “believe” in things that are provable and factual, not “faith based”, which is the right decision for myself. This is about removing the stereotype that atheists are immoral people, “furthering it’s own goals and objectives at the expense of societal peace and prosperity” when in plenty of cases that is the furthest thing from the truth. I live a very moral life by choice and my chosen career is human service professional. I am sure there are plenty of immoral atheists, just as there are plenty of immoral Christians, but that doesn‘t mean we all are and I don’t like being treated or regarded as immoral.

  • No, we do not have a book written around 3,000 years ago that tells a story of the creation of the heavens and earth, that almost exactly mirrors the same story many other religions told well before said book claims the earth was even created. We do not have anything saying how the heavens were created, because OBVIOUSLY as atheists we do not believe in heavens. However we do have countless modern, fact based texts telling us what it was that created the earth. Spoiler alert: we don‘t think it was ’nothing’.
No, we do not ‘have to keep the 0 commandments’, the ten commandments, or any commandments at all. BUT YOU DO. That is what this movement is trying to convey. I am an atheist and I would never steal from someone, lie other than to spare someone’s feelings, cheat, murder (or even hit) someone, etc. A Christian HAS to follow a certain set of rules to abide by their religion, I CHOOSE to live a moral life. This movement is about teaching non-Atheists that just because we do not believe someone is watching us, we do not believe there is a higher power telling us what to do, and we do not believe we will go to hell doesn’t mean we are immoral heathens running a muck. I volunteer because I want to, I do good to others because I want to, and to me that is more genuine than doing so out of force but I am still persecuted for my beliefs (for instance, your second comment is an ignorant remark about my morals).
