  • Boy, this probably won’t go over well…

While the truth is, if I were in Mr. Young’s position, I would have responded much the same way, the truth is, I would be wrong. The fact is, Safeway has had a long standing policy of not allowing their employees to get involved in such altercations.

The reason for this is simple. Most of your average employees of a grocery store are not trained to handle these situations and can either escalate the situation or get themselves or others hurt by getting involved. As frustrating as this is, there is a reason for it. It’s a matter of employee safety, and sadly, liability.

Safeway does not have ‘in house’ security. They contract through private security agencies for their store security. This limits their liability while providing some degree of safety and protection for both the store and their customers.

Private Security Officers who work at Safeway stores are trained in affecting arrest and conflict resolution. I’ve worked for a company who provided security for Safeway and know the requirements of their S/O’s.

Being a security officer, trained and experienced in handling volatile situations (Including domestic disputes), I don’t like getting involved. But the key difference is, I am trained to respond and experienced. Not to mention, it is usually my job.

It was NOT Mr. Young’s job. If security was available (Not all Safeway stores have security), he should have called them.

    Still think it’s w

  • Did you miss this sentence in the article, just below the picture of the balloons being released?

“In addition, the DNA of 15-year-old Sierra LaMar was found in the red Volkswagen Jetta of suspect Antolin Garcia-Torres, Santa Clara County Sheriff Laurie Smith said.”

    Or better yet…In context…

“In addition, the DNA of 15-year-old Sierra LaMar was found in the red Volkswagen Jetta of suspect Antolin Garcia-Torres, Santa Clara County Sheriff Laurie Smith said.

The victim and suspect did not know each other, Smith said.[...]

Garcia-Torres, 21, was linked to the case after his DNA — taken during a previous assault arrest — was linked to clothing found in the bag. authorities said. He was not charged in the previous case.”

They found her DNA in HIS car, the police have stated that the victim and the suspect did NOT know each other and in the next sentence, that HIS DNA was found in a bag containing HER clothing.

How do you explain how her DNA was in HIS car or HIS DNA being in a bag containing HER clothes when they didn’t know each other. Sorry, not a fishing expedition. Around here we call that probable cause.

I’m not a big fan or defender of the Police. I will point out when I think they’re wrong and will do so with passion. But in this case, I think they have the right guy.

  • Okay, the spider tree just creeps me out. I hate spiders. But creepy or not, it’s still cool!

  • And what evidence do you have to suggest that other religious beliefs are not allowed? Just because no one has asked them to put up a minorah or other display does not mean that they are not allowed.

Sorry, but this display does not violate the law unless they specifically have banned other displays which is not something which has been alleged or established in the article.

  • Oh go soak your sanctimonious, judgmental, self righteous head.

  • Unbothered, How DARE you judge another person’s faith, or tell them to start calling themselves Christian. When did you decide to place yourself as God, Hmm? Because last I knew, Almighty God was the only one with the right to judge a man’s soul.

You really need to go back to your bible because you’ve obviously missed a couple of key points in the teachings of Christ. Allow me to assist you.

Matthew 7:1-3 (NIV) “Do not judge, or you too will be judged. For in the same way you judge others, you will be judged, and with the measure you use, it will be measured to you.”

Matthew 7:3 (NIV) “Why do you look at the speck of sawdust in your brothers eye and pay no attention to the plank in your own eye? How can you say to your brother, ‘Let me take the speck out of your eye,’ when all the time there is a plank in your own eye? You hypocrite, first take the plank out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to take the speck from your brother’s eye.”

Mark 9:41 (NIV) “I tell you the truth, Anyone who gives you a cup of water in my name because you belong to Christ will certainly not lose his reward.”

    Finally…

John 8:7 (NIV): When they kept on questioning him, he straightened up and said to them, “If any one of you is without sin, let him be the first to throw a stone at her.”

You have no right to judge anyone, nor have you the right to condemn anyone. Christ’s is a message of mercy and forgiveness not condemnation. You may want to ret
