  • A friend of mine who’s both a firearms nut and an experienced gunsmith has long claimed that the only adequate handgun for self-defense is one chambering a round beginning with “.4-something”

I asked him then about the semiautomatic designs fodder’d by Mr. Whildon’s .50 Action Express, and he made dismissive noises about “guns that fire many times promiscuously and rend the Earth.”

  • “Think I’d rather have a smaller pistol though, .45′s seem heavy and make the draw slower.”

The non-shooter would think it a paradox, but it’s a plain fact that the more massive the firearm the lower is the perception of recoil.

Besides, if you’re employing any handgun using anything other than a variant of the Weaver stance – that is, using both hands to support and fire the weapon – you’re not genuinely interested in either accuracy or volume of fire. The swiftness of the “draw” is a matter of indifference.

  • This firearm should be promoted as the classic ladies’ handgun for daily carriage, the perfect protective measure for the prevention of mugging and rape.

After all, madam, those attackers may be ripped out of their minds on PCP and coming at you in large numbers. Just try to make sure that there‘s an engine block or a brick wall behind ’em when you convey your .45 ACP disapproval.

  • The “supreme ultralord” stuff is a trope from the TV cartoon show Planet Sheen, a spin-off from the earlier Nickelodeon program Jimmy Neutron, Boy Genius.

Haven‘t any of you religious wastoids got any experience with the average American kid’s favorite cable television programs?

  • @Jacobsbubble: “Professor? Jump off your ivory tower, please!”

Tsk. That would be a flagrant violation of OSHA standards. How can you ask a “Liberal” to commit such a mortal sin against his religious belief in bureaucratic omnipotence?

That aside, I encourage you to persist in your persuasion. Just rope off the pavement below to protect the folks passing by, and then let him leap.

    “Look out below!”

  • I refuse to refer to our Fraudulence-in-Chief as “Barack Hussein Obama II” simply because he lost that appellation as a child when he was adopted by Soetoro (nickname “Lolo”) to become a citizen of the Republic of Indonesia, legally re-named Soebarkah (nickname “Barry”) per Muslim custom in that country.

To the best of any appreciation I’ve seen, Barry Soebarkah never changed his legal name back to “Obama” or sought to restore his alleged American citizenship after getting sloughed off on his maternal grandparents in Hawaii.

So he’s not only incapable of proving “natural born” status but it appears that he’s actually an illegal alien in the bargain.

Would his academic records at Occidental College and Columbia University reveal that he’d gotten financial assistance as a foreign national, using his Indonesian passport the way he’d employed it to take that trip to Pakistan?

The more we’ve learned about Barry Soebarkah – remember, NEVER “Barack Obama” – the more redolent is the reek of his personal putrescence.

  • Let me try to take this a step at a time, and apologies if any earlier commenter had remarked on this.

    (1) The U.S. Constitution‘s second amendment specifically protects the private citizen’s right to keep and bear arms (RTKBA).

As writer L. Neil Smith put it: “Every man, woman, and responsible child has an unalienable individual, civil, Constitutional, and human right to obtain, own, and carry, openly or concealed, any weapon — rifle, shotgun, handgun, machinegun, anything — any time, any place, without asking anyone’s permission.”

    (2) The U.S. Constitution’s fourteenth amendment was written (among other things) to impose upon state and local government the same individual rights protections embodied in the Bill of Rights.

Firearms ownership and use was specifically intended to receive this protection, as many state governments were disposed to enact Victim Disarmament laws to deprive ***** freedmen of the exercise of this right immediately following the end of the War of Northern Aggression.

Okay, so we’ve got the City of New York enacting statutes which undeniably violate individual civil rights specifically protected under the second and fourteenth amendments to the U.S. Constitution.

So how come there aren‘t federal marshals descending upon NYC’s City Hall and all over the Big Apple to perp-walk these thugs out of their offices and precinct houses and into criminal custody for indictment and prosecution?

  • Skeptical climatologist Roy Spencer picked up on this story, and also identified it as a 39-liter “bladder tank” designed to store hydrazine propellant (see http://cs.astrium.eads.net/sp/spacecraft-propulsion/propellant-tanks/39-litre-hydrazine-bladder-tank.html) and common in many of the satellites that de-orbit every year.

    See http://www.drroyspencer.com/2011/12/spaceballs/

  • Got it. Another poster had suggested earlier that it was a hydrazine tank, but your link is extremely valuable.

The appearance given in the image on the Blaze site (here) correlates with a Titanium composition, but what‘s the blithering nonsense about how it’s made up of an “alloy known to man,” anyway?

Give me a couple of minutes with a file and access to a freshman-year college chemistry lab, and I‘ll tell you whether there’s anything there but metallic Titanium and TiO2.

  • Pajaken, you’re missing an important point about our “poverty pimp” pseudopresident.

It’s not that “…in today’s economy $200,000 is an extremely low limit” but that the constant yelping we’re getting from our Fraudulence-in-Chief about how “the rich” ought to be squeezed harder to make life easier for the middle class is a bloody lie.

There aren’t enough of “the rich” – private citizens whose annual earnings exceed that $200,000 magic threshold – to pay for all the spending Odumbo has done, much less what he wants to do.

We could ARREST all of “the rich,” loot all their savings, go after their mythical bank accounts in Switzerland and the Cayman Islands, confiscate and sell everything they own, work them to death in slave labor camps, and then render their corpses for the lard, and we STILL wouldn’t get enough money to pay for the corporate welfare and bankster bailouts our Mombasa Messiah has shoveled out.

Ron Paul knows that it is worse than useless to chase after “the rich.” You don‘t save a patient who’s bleeding to death by doing nothing but giving him transfusions.

    You stop the bleeding.

Barack Hussein Obama is bleeding America to death, and he’s making “class warfare” noises to distract the stupid and the gullible from the destruction he’s wrought.

Big government isn’t the cure. It’s the disease.

We need a doctor in the White House, not a “community organizer.”
