  • Yuck!

  • The president’s National Securtiy advisor in the DC Comics Universe is really ticked at Superman, for peacefully standing with the protesters in Iran who are against Ahmadinejad. This is the dialogue before the infamous panel.
National Security Advisor–”So I’m going to ask you one more time, what in God’s name did you think you were doing flying into Tehran?”
Superman–”I follow the news, like I said. And I saw the reports of the Iranian people demonstrating. There’s been violence before. Ahmadinejad’s regime had overreacted. People had been killed. Apparently, the protest leaders had been using social media sites to help them organize. And the government had been piggybacking on those sites so they knew who to arrest—where they’d be. The Iranian army had been warning the public about engaging in further demonstrations. They said there would be harsh repercussions. But these people–students, shopkeepers, mothers, fathers, children–they were putting their lives on the line despite the warnings. I wanted to let them know they weren’t alone. As a super hero, as Metropolis‘ protector I’ve fought about everything imaginable: alien invaders–time traveling despots–rogues with every kind of costume and gimmick you can think of. I’m good when it comes to fighting apocalyptic threats. But the everyday depredations that humans suffer? Dying of thirst? Hunger? People being denied their basic human rights? I’ve never been effective at stopping things like that, and I want to be. So I showed solidarity. I promised myself I wouldn’t directly engage, no matter what happened. It was an act of civil disobedience. Nonviolent resistance. I stayed in Azadi Aquare for twenty-four hours. I didn’t move. I didn’t speak. I just stayed there. In that time, the protestors ranks grew from an estimated 120,000 people to over one million. Some people threw roses at my feet. Others threw green sashes and flags the color of their protest. But the army of the Guardian of the Islamic Revolution never fired a shot. The demonstration began and ended peacefully. After twenty-four hours, I left.”
National Securty Advisor–But did it do any good. Did the regim e promise to start instituting democratic reforms.
    Superman–”No.”
National Security Advisor–”So what good did your showboating serve? “Your actions have created an international incident. The Iranian government is accusing you of acting on the president’s behalf.
Superman–”I realize that now and it was foolish of me–”
Now read the infamous panels above with a little more context. So much for the “truth” has no agenda.

  • Funny this woman could get a long form birth certificate for her twins born in 1961 in Hawaii:

  • It cracks me up that Glenn Beck talks about people calling him names when he comes out with certain information. Yet he is not above calling people birthers and kooks for wanting to see the official birth certificate of Barack Hussein Obama. As a matter of fact, most of the other talking conservative heads are the same way. Which makes me ask, when do the conservative talking heads make more money and sell more books, when there’s a Republican in the White House, or a Democrat? Never underestimate the power of Greed. As Beck has been able to find many documents and videos, the presidents long form birth certificate shouldn’t be any problem.

  • Why Are the Obama Kids Banned From Facebook?

    In reply to middleclassprophet.

Barack and Michelle are their parents, and it’s their right to decide. Now if they’d only respect the rights of other parents.

  • Notice that not only are they going after the second amendment but the first as well. Why didn’t they try to outlaw commercial airlines after 911?

  • Juan Williams was fired by NPR for much less.

  • Actually, I enjoyed the movie, and didn’t get the memo on the anti-whatever message. Did Mr. Cameron keep his profits or share them with the less fortunate? That will do more to tell you if he is truly a capitalist, or a socialist. It’s not so hard for me to believe that a Marine would fight for what he believes in, wouldn‘t take what wasn’t rightfully his and do his best to do the right thing to the best of his ability.

On the other hand, if you want to entertain, make a movie–if you want to preach, find a pulpit.
