  • Many Evangelicals don’t realize how unfriendly Israel can be to Christians–especially Jewish Christians (Messianic Jews) who recognize Yeshua as the Mashiach and study the B’rit Chadashah. While even Jewish atheists are acceptable, Jewish Christians are seen as race traitors who have forsaken their Jewish identity, and for many decades on religious grounds they were considered ineligible for citizenship under the Law of Return. Many Messianic Jews in Israel are persecuted by their Orthodox Jewish kinsmen; their rabbis/pastors are harassed and assaulted, and their churches are vandalized.

I don’t see the celebration of Christmas as that big of a deal. It is a Christian adaptation of a pagan holiday and was not celebrated in the earliest centuries of the faith. Messianic Jews usually only celebrate the biblical feast days, often Chanukkah as well, so the “lack of Christmas spirit” in Christian migrants to Israel should not be interpreted as a precursor to apostasy by the Roman Catholic Church.

I get the impression we’re entering a new age of American politics–a libertarian awakening. At least I hope that’s the case. :)

The Tea Party movement was founded on the principle of small government, but The Blaze has exposed its root hypocrisy. Most “Tea Partiers” are anti-big government on fiscal issues and pro-big government on social issues. These ideologies, though more often than not well intended, are two sides of the same statist coin. Libertarianism is consistently pro-individual freedom and pro-individual responsibility. Advocacy of social justice and personal purity belong in the private sector, unassisted and unimpeded by politicians.

  • How Christlike of you…

DD, you need a reality check and a chill pill. “omgz they sownd teh same!!!1! ron paul!??? lulz”

Libertarianism in essence is classical liberalism–democratic republicanism, free market economics, small and decentralized government, non-interventionism–whereas modern American welfare liberalism is a perverted hybrid of classical liberalism and socialism. Unlike conservatives and progressives, we don’t feel the need to compel others to adopt our values and lifestyles through onerous amounts of legislation. It is not the job of politicians to maintain or shape culture for those in the private sector, and this extends to the so-called War on Drugs–a waste of money and lives concocted to save people from themselves by taking away their freedoms. Ron Paul seems to be the only Republican candidate who understands that.

Many people are sad about his death, theists and atheists alike.

Militant is an accurate description for Hitchens. It simply means “active” as opposed to “passive.” It doesn’t necessarily mean violent. He was evangelically anti-theistic.

More proof there should be an minimum age requirement to post on this site.

It’s nice to see another Christian universalist here. Every knee WILL bow and every tongue confess to the glory of God the Father–and God is not glorified with mere lip-service, but with sincere faith and allegiance. All which is corrupt will be restored so that God will be all in all.
