MSNBC Host Tweets That Same-Sex Marriage Is a ‘Civil Right’

I understand it perfectly. I‘m not sure what comment of mine you’re responding to, however. Can you be a bit more specific?

Once the State got involved- marriage licenses, tax breaks for married couples, etc- it was no longer only ‘a God thing’. IMO, the government needs to get out of the marriage business altogether, on both the Federal and State levels.

Funny, I don’t see straight marriage mentioned in the Constitution or Bill of Rights either. But try to tell a man and woman they can’t marry based on that, and the first thing you’ll hear is “It’s our right!”

You mean like the rights of children born in the 50% of male-female marriages that end in divorce?

Mmm, Gooch, firstly, it was Caligula who supposedly appointed his horse to the Senate, not Nero. And secondly- he didn’t. It’s an ancient version of an urban legend.

Ever notice that when voters pass a law we like, we proudly proclaim that the will of the people has prevailed, but when those same voters pass a law we don’t like, we cry foul? The same goes for lawmakers and the courts: pass or uphold a law we like, and they’re “doing the right thing”; if it‘s a law we don’t like, they’re evil “activists”. Doesn‘t matter if you’re left or right, it’s prevalent behavior on both sides of the aisle.
Wikipedia Entry on Obama/Biden ‘Forward’ Slogan Scrubbed of References to ‘Leftwing Newspapers & Publications’
May 3, 2012 at 2:48am
Last week there was a news article (I believe reported on The Blaze) about a Catholic school that rescinded its invitation to a graduation speaker after finding out he was gay. Curious about the school, I went to its Wikipedia entry and found that somebody had added this to it a few hours before: “In 2012, the biggoted principle of the school canceled a speech that was to be given by an alumni student because he is openly homosexual. As a result, the school is becoming nationaly known as a school filled with hatred and bullying.”
This is a pretty good example of the drawbacks of Wikipedia. (I removed the above from the entry with a few admonishments.)
