  If memory serves me correctly (and it does as I went to school prior to them being turned into indoctrination centers) Japan was convinced to stop fighting when two cities were vaporized. Saying that, I feel one of two things would happen if we were to do the same to Mecca and Medina. 1. Pouring gasoline on a hornet’s nest would bring them all out.   When will all you of get it? It is more than just the burning of the Koran. It’s occupying their lands. Whether our cause is noble or not, when you occupy a land (even if you are trying to help them), eventually the people become restless and will fight you. We need to go after Al Qaeda and stop trying to nation build in a nation you cannot win in. The Taliban are not really a terrorist organization. Their goal isn’t to come here and kill us, it is to protect what they believe is theirs. Al Qaeda is the terrorist group. We need to go after them. This constant occupying over other lands leads to stuff like this. Bring our boys home, NOW!

  I have to disagree with your premise here. I was party to an ‘occupying force’ in Thailand ‘72-73, UK ‘73-75, Philippines ‘75-’77, UK (again) ‘81-’97 and at NO TIME did any of those populations rise up against us. I was temporarily in Sardinia, Germany, Denmark, and Holland, with the same results. I haven’t heard of anyone in ROK, Japan, Guam or any other SEA country rising up against us (other than ‘the Nam’) that reacted with hostility.   This story reminds me of the scene from Aliens when Ripley finds the ‘Mother’ alien squeezing out all the ‘eggs’ of the baby aliens. That‘s what this ’woman’ seems to be doing. At least, she‘s Germany’s problem until WE have to bail out Germany.
