  When Paul finally… FINALLY… admits what we all know to be true… that WE Republicans don’t see him in the White House either… and gives up his latest and last run… he gives a speech at the Golden Corral… and I am there to bear witness.

  …. as Paul rattles on, I close my eyes and pretend that I wasn‘t at Paul’s final event (after his seeing the writing on the wall and giving up once again). The image is the same that I’ve always had of Paul… that of an addled, geriatric berzerker with bushels of hair growing out of his ears, sitting on a park bench, talking to the trees and the phantoms in his head, feeding stale bread to the squirrels. When I open my eyes and looked around at the employees in the buffet where this talk was being given (who must have been promised that they could go home early if they were willing to endure Paul’s final gibberings)… his supporters wore sad, defeated, dazed expressions, as if they’d been bludgeoned with broomsticks.

  As they walked out of the buffet, one of his supporters mumbled… “well, I guess we vote for Obama again.”

  They all pick up the pace with a renewed pep in their step… and pronounce… YES Obama!

  And once again… all is well in Paul-estine. They return back to the other man who gives them a thrill up their boney legs.

I became fascinated with the intersection of Austrian economics and the freedom movement. I attended every Von Mises Institute conference I could find, and read every book their movement ever published. Ron Paul spoke at every one of these events, and when I wasn’t listening to John Denton say that America had no business getting into World War II, or Bob Barr saying that the federal government (not Tim McVeigh) blew up the building in Oklahoma City, I was intrigued by much of what their movement had to say. As I got older and wiser, I began to realize that the heir of Friedrich Hayek was Milton Friedman, not Murray Rothbard, and that this “Austrian economics movement” was a front for an extremist form of anti-war zealotry. Every single conference break was filled with the most radical of conspiracy theorists you have ever heard, and the political intentions of the major brains behind their operation were not hidden: Utter anarchy.   I’ve been hearing the same childish taunts by Paul supporters (the anti-war pacifist left) for years… even as far back as when I was at Ft. Benning, GA where yooz and the other Obama type leftists were protesting the old School of the America’s. Damn near took a few heads off that day, and reminded myself and my Soldiers that you were the scourge of America, and pay you no mind. No mind of course until you get in our personal space, then all bets were off. But we showed our warrrrrr faces and you just faded away into the pacifist sunset.
