  • What does biology have to do with marriage? Its a social ritual/contract. As to why its called the same thing as “regular” marriage is because ‘separate but equal’ was struck down quite a while back. If gays can join in a legal arrangement that confers the exact same benefits as a different arrangement, there is no reason to call them separate things because to do so inherently implies inequality. I believe the term “marriage” should replaced with ‘civil unions’ for all parties as far as the law is concerned. It’s a religious institution anyway.

  • Hermaphrodites. The Issue of DNA = Gender is not black and white. It is in many but not all cases. What would you say to all the “men” out there who were born with vaginas? You know, the way God made them?

  • Tom Servo was always my favorite.

  • So… You assume that their methodology is flawed out of hand? I mean psychology is a pretty soft science but to dismiss any findings right off is pretty… stupid. You don’t have any studies that counter their findings. You don’t actually have their report so naturally you assume they did everything wrong. You have literally no evidence other than personal experience with firearms. Bring me a peer reviewed study then I‘ll say you’re right. If that’s unpalatable, well maybe you can find a place on the internet where you can find an audience who will agree with you without much requirement for evidence.

Your opinion and anecdotes do not counter scientific finding. If you wish to prove the other guy wrong, find flaws in his arguments. Do not make them up. It is nothing more than self indulgent crap.

… Sorry. That was harsh. But my point stands. Simply assuming the argument is wrong before learning anything about isn‘t going to convince anyone who doesn’t already agree. Please, be smarter in making your arguments.

Original Poster: This is a poor method for winning arguments. Calling people stupid solves nothing and worse, turns them off to your argument on an emotional level which means you’ve already lost…you idiot. Also your writing was of poorer quality than most on this sight. And a lot of it is pretty bad.

Eigon’s Paradox Guy: Simply because a problem has not been solved does not make it unsolvable. People didn’t know how to fly for a very long time. But planes are pretty cool.

Fossil Record Person: Asking for evidence in the fossil record is like asking what is the smallest number between 0 and 1. Whatever you say there will always be a smaller number. Scientists long ago were satisfied that fossil evidence supported the theory of evolution. Its a weak sauce argument. Go take a lesson from Eigon’s Paradox Guy. My response to him was way flimsier.

Lybrd26: What are you talking about? I literally do not understand. Heliocentrism was figured out (most famously anyway) by Galileo. He was called a heathen by the inquisition and put under house arrest until he died some time later. D+. Let’s try for some coherent counter arguments hmm? Also you‘re think of Pascals Wager which isn’t a good argument for religion especially if thats your only reason for belief. Example: I could believe my dog is actually a well spoken Harvard Graduate with a PHD in Art. But he hides all this very well to make me feel smart. This causes me no harm nor anyone else. It’s still pretty lo

  • Neither do Christians? The bible isn’t exactly a bastion of morality. At least by today’s standards. Daughter selling, wife stoning, executions, witches…the list goes on. Perhaps God did give humans morality but a belief in him isn’t prerequisite for that to be present. At least that’s what I think. Although your preconceived negative assumption about a person you’ve never met, based on a single facet of their being is cool too. What’s that called? Its not racism cause that’s way uncool, although I guess you could be forgiven for confusing the two. Hmm. Is there a word for that?

Conservative but reasonable? On this website? Will wonders never cease?

  • If they only speak for “pitiful few” how did they win the election? I mean it seems counter intuitive. Also you have to admit no politician has ever been a bastion of honesty. In the last 50 years its been worse than ever if you look back. Nixon was only the worst example of corruption. Clinton couldn’t keep it in his pants. Teaching people to be skeptical of politicians claims is a very wise thing to do. Look at Newt Gingrich? 2.50 per gallon of gas? Whats he gonna do, start peeing gasoline? Its a nonsense claim that he can’t deliver on. The only politicians I might believe to fully follow through on promises are Ron Paul and Rick Santorum, both of whom are crazy as all get out. As nice as it would be if all politicians were held to their word they are not. So get over it and choose the one you think can most competently execute their plan because you will never receive all that was promised.

  • What would be nice is collapsible comment threads. Really that would be fantastic. Get on that Blaze. Its not very complicated code. Anyone with a Software Engineering or similar degree should be able to manage it.

  • Atheist and Muslim are mutually exclusive terms. Many people in both parties would be offended at being called the other. You clearly don’t understand the concept of Atheism or Religion. Might I suggest a visit to your local library or community college? The people there will probably be more than happy to help you understand your misunderstanding. Also that “ You tell me” argument makes you come off as aggressive and ignorant Robert999. Try a more reasoned approach, like explaining your position. If you want people to come around to your way of thinking then the debate tactics you learned in second grade must be left behind for more convincing techniques. Colleges also teach classes on that and I’m sure you would find it a valuable use of your time.
