D.C. Police to Allow Sikh Officers to Wear Full Beards and Turbans on the Job
May 17, 2012 at 2:45pm
I know white “Anglo” Sikhs who choose to follow the Sikh religion by growing their hair and beards out and wearing turbans. Sikh is a religion, not an ethnicity.

Sikhs are not only not Muslims, they’ve been fighting against Muslim jihadists for centuries. They have a very militant religion precisely because they have had to stand up against attempts by Muslims to forcefully convert them ever since their religion was founded.

SIKHS ARE NOT MUSLIMS. In fact, the whole reason they have ceremonial swords is because of their long-term battles against Islamic jihadists.
Atheist Who Converted to Christianity After Threatening TX Nativity Lawsuit Emails to Say He’s Once Again an Atheist

@LPHP – Sooo many people equate evangelical Christianity as “Christianity” when it is only ONE movement within Christianity. Go to an Episcopal Church. Women and gays there are priests. The Bible is not seen as the “inerrant” word of God but the INSPIRED word of God – and Genesis is an allegory designed to explain something very complex in very simple terms, not the literal way God created the world.
Just because evangelicals have a rigid view of the Bible doesn’t mean all Christians do. Evangelicals think they’ve cornered the market on truth but I disagree with them. I think they are good people who have found something that works for them… but they forget that Jesus never said “You must believe in a literal Bible” to go to heaven. Furthermore, Jesus didn’t say that believing that homosexuality is a sin was a prerequisite for heaven either. All that matters is opening your heart to God.
So evangelicals may not like that “liberal” denominations allow gay leaders but I’ll say to them they are missing the bigger picture, which is LOVING GOD. At any rate, many good things are going on in other churches – don’t ignore that just because evangelicals make the most noise.

Fundamentalism and the idea of Biblical “inerrancy” do not work for a lot of people. There are many denominations that take a more nuanced view of the Bible, see Genesis as allegory, and have a less rigid view of Christianity. He unfortunately did not find those people it appears. It’s too bad “sola scriptura” Christians dominate the Christian landscape in America because it turns SO many people off of Christianity.

The important thing is he found Jesus. Good for him for wanting to reach out and minister to gays and lesbians. Differences in theology or Biblical interpretation don’t matter – it’s the faith in Jesus that counts!

I lived through some major earthquakes in California. Trust me, they’ll get their next disasters soon enough. You also forgot about all the devastation wreaked on Vermont last year from Irene. And Vermont is pretty liberal, is it not?

Yet another pot propagandist who downplays the negative effects on pot. Every pothead I know is a space case who is mentally fried. Pot is not good for you, you can see the negative long-term effects on people who use it regularly, as plain as day.
