New legislation that would bring big changes to DC gun laws may be voted on soon

Lawmakers and everyday Americans alike should have their Second Amendment rights recognized in the District of Columbia with new legislation honoring concealed carry permits, Rep. Thomas Massie (R-Ky.) said on Thursday’s “The Glenn Beck Radio Program.”

Gun rights have been an even more important topic after the attack on GOP members of Congress last week. A shooter injured five people in an Alexandria baseball field where the GOP congressional baseball team was practicing ahead of the annual game for charity.

The bill, which Massie introduced last Thursday, would require D.C. to honor concealed carry permits from every state. The D.C. Personal Protection Reciprocity Act has bipartisan support and would actually serve to unite Republicans and Democrats, Massie asserted.

“There are members on the other side of the aisle that would vote for this bill if we could get it on the floor today,” he said, going on to explain that the biggest problem that the bill faces is GOP leadership. Republicans in leadership roles already have a security detail, making concealed carry far less important for them.
