TheBlaze hosts react to 'Beauty and the Beast' remake's openly gay character
March 09, 2017
Disney has come under fire from conservative groups over comments made by the director of the upcoming live-action remake of the 1991 classic "Beauty and the Beast."
Director Bill Condon revealed in Attitude, an LGBTQ magazine, that his reimagining of the children's story features a small subplot revealing that LeFou, sidekick to the film's villainous Gaston, is gay, leading to an "exclusively gay moment" later in the movie.
Since Condon's comments ignited a social media firestorm of both support and outrage, Disney execs and those who worked on the film have engaged in frantic damage control to ensure that family audiences still turn out to see it.
A number of TheBlaze's hosts, including Doc Thompson and Glenn Beck, weighed in on the controversy.
