Watch: This new site rates movies ‘fresh’ or ‘rotten’ based on this controversial metric

What’s going on?

Rotten Apples is a new movie website that lets you know if actors or producers involved have been accused of sexual misconduct.

How does it work?

Type a movie or TV show title into the search bar, and Rotten Apples will rate it as containing “fresh apples” or “rotten apples.” If a name like Harvey Weinstein pops up, you can click through the link to read a news story about that particular “rotten apple” and allegations against them. Movies ranging from “Lord of the Rings” to “Silver Linings Playbook” will come up with “rotten apples” thanks to Harvey and Bob Weinstein and their involvement.

Glenn’s take:

Glenn wasn’t sure what to think yet on today’s show. Is this site intended to encourage boycotts, or is it just a tool to inform the public?

“It’s very of the moment,” he said. “You might say it’s even ‘#MeToo.’”
