Lee Bright vs. William Timmons: LIVE South Carolina primary election runoff results
June 26, 2018
Tonight, the runoff election for South Carolina's 4th Congressional District will be concluded. The winner will be the Republican nominee to succeed Rep. Trey Gowdy, R-S.C., in Congress.
The top two finishers from the primary were former state Sen. Lee Bright and current state Sen. William Timmons.
Bright finished first in the June 12 primary, and since then he has been endorsed by Sen. Ted Cruz, R-Texas, and the Club for Growth. He's also supported by Reps. Steve King, R-Iowa, and Thomas Massie, R-Ky.
Timmons is endorsed by Sen. Marco Rubio, R-Fla.
South Carolina is an open primary state, meaning voters do not need to register with a party to vote in that party's primary. However, voters who voted in the June 12 primary may vote only in the same party's runoff. Voters who did not vote in the June 12 primary may vote in either party's runoff. The polls close at 7:00 p.m. ET.
