BLACK MIRROR? Silicon Valley is peddling Chinese-style 'social credit' system in US — and we're lining up to buy

Big Tech is replacing the Constitution with 'analytics and algorithm'

On Monday's radio show, Glenn Beck read a white paper report written by prominent law professor Larry Backer of Penn State, which shows exactly why liberal politicians and leaders in Silicon Valley support socialism.

In the report, Backer details how progressive lawmakers and technology-industry leaders are steadily pushing Western society to accept a Chinese-style "social credit" system by normalizing the idea of sharing private data and shifting the focus of law away from the Constitution and toward "analytics and algorithm."

Backer wrote:

[I]is it possible to socialize the masses, or even mass democracy as a collective, to embrace this pattern of data disclosure beyond these immediately self-serving closed loop systems? Would it be possible for the state to develop systems for the enforcement of laws (criminal and regulatory) that depend on intelligence by inducing the masses to serve as positive contributors of data necessary for enforcement or regulation? The answer, in Western liberal democracies, may depend on the ability of the great culture management machinery of Western society--its television, movies and other related media--to develop a narrative in which such activity is naturalized within Western culture.

"Let me tell you why people in Silicon Valley believe in a borderless world. They believe in a borderless world because they believe there will be no nation states in the end -- that we won't identify as Americans or Chinese. We will all just be humans sharing everything and, really, forced to share," Glenn said. "We will be on our best behavior because ... Big Brother will be watching over us at all times. This sounds like science fiction, but I promise you, it is not."

"If you want to understand why everybody in Silicon Valley is for socialism, here is why," he continued. "Now, remember, they don't believe in nation states. They don't believe in borders. Why would they be for a big, oppressive country? Because they need the data."

While most Americans dismiss the idea of a social credit system in the West, Silicon Valley is peddling high tech surveillance systems, such as Google home, Amazon Alexa and Apple watches -- and we're lining up to trade in our freedom for these modern conveniences.
