So what is cancel culture? Tuesday, "Pseudo Intellectual" host Lauren Chen explained schadenfreude and 'cancel culture' and how the mindset relates to the political community.

In this clip, Chen explained that schadenfreude is feeling joy at someone else's misfortune. This type of feeling isn't new and has existed in every aspect of life including politics. However, it was not until social media that schadenfreude became so rampant.

According to Chen, if someone cancels you on social media they were never really a fan to begin with. She added that in the political community, people will not only cancel a public figure who is on the opposite side of the political aisle, often, a public figure could be 'cancelled' for not agreeing enough. She went on to say that the problem with cancel culture is that eventually everyone will find themselves cancelled.
