Twitter mom says memes are responsible for white nationalism and racism among teens

On Thursday's episode of "Pseudo-Intellectual," Lauren and Liam discussed a viral tweet that blamed teen racism and white nationalism on internet memes.

In this clip, Lauren explained how white nationalism had become a frequent topic of discussion and how the left blamed racism on President Donald Trump and right-wing politics in general.

A mom took to Twitter and claimed that white nationalism and racism could be traced back to internet memes shared by white teenage boys.

"Do you have white teenage sons?" the concerned mom began.

Lauren went tweet-by-tweet and offered her opinion along the way. Lauren concluded that while the woman may have had good intentions, her understanding of meme culture and the term "triggered" proved she had no clue what she was talking about.

Lauren noted the outrage that would likely occur if someone posted a tweet and said, "If you have black sons listen up! This is how gangs start."

"Can you imagine? People would freak out," Lauren said.

The mom claimed that white supremacy begins online with memes.

"So the girls are the good gatekeepers of virtue, trying to steer these young boys away from white supremacy and they are just not listening," Lauren said sarcastically.

Lauren explained that she is criticized for being "racist" online all of the time and that she felt frustration, not anger or shame.
