Michelle Obama: 'This President Has Brought Us Out of the Dark and Into the Light

"I am so in."

Michelle Obama doesn't have a glowing record when it comes to campaign trail speeches. Add this to the list of curious comments.

During a stop in Nashville, Tennessee, on Tuesday, the First Lady alluded to scripture while referring to her husband and trying to fire up the crowd.

"I am so in. I am going to be working so hard," she said near the end of her speech. "We have an amazing story to tell. This President has brought us out of the dark and into the light."

Here's the full context of the remark:

So I think, Nashville, it’s time, right?  It is time for us to get to work.  It’s time for us to get moving.  (Applause.)  It’s time for us to roll up our sleeves.

So I have one last question for you:  Are you in?

AUDIENCE:  Yes!

MRS. OBAMA:  Wait, wait, wait, I couldn’t hear you.  Are you in?

AUDIENCE:  Yes!

MRS. OBAMA:  Are you in?

AUDIENCE:  Yes!

MRS. OBAMA:  Because I am so in.  I am so in.  I am going to be working so hard.  We have an amazing story to tell.  This President has brought us out of the dark and into the light.  (Applause.)

But we need each and every one of you as fired up as you’ve been.  You need to find 10 other people just like you, shake them up, right?  (Applause.)  Remind them what’s at stake.  Don't let them get confused.  Have them understand what we are trying to do for our children.

The Weekly Standard noticed the scripture reference: "Either way, in religious terms, light is used to denote the true path, presented either by God or a savior. Or by Barack Obama."
