Things you better know from the first full day of the DNC

A roundup of the little things that may have slipped through the cracks…

1. TIME magazine has been producing an original magazine cover each day for the party conventions. Today's cover is pictured to the right. That dress and those pearls. One guess as to who Michelle Obama is supposed to look like.

2. Newark Mayor Cory Booker may have worked his way back into good graces with his fellow Democrats after his speech tonight. He caught a great deal of flack from the Obama administration and others for calling criticism of Mitt Romney's experience in the private sector "crap." Booker's speech went over well. (VIDEO)

3. On CNN this morning Soledad O'Brien challenged Tea Party Express Chair Amy Kremer who recently said the difference between Romney and President Obama is that Romney "loves America." O'Brien said, "You know, I'm very susceptible to the dog whistle thing..." (VIDEO)

4. Campaigning in Virgina today, Obama stopped at a fire station and dropped off a case of the White House Honey Ale beer. One of the firefighters asked, "Should we wait until tomorrow to drink it?" according to a pool report.

5. A campaign staffer told ABC News that one of Paul Ryan's favorite movies is The Princess Bride.

6. Yesterday in Ohio, Obama offered to autograph a supporter's newspaper. An article on the front page told the story of a man who credits the auto bailout for saving his job.

7. Unlike other networks, Fox News isn't hosting any parties at the conventions. "We're more interested in using our personnel to gather facts and report on the convention," Fox News Executive Vice-President Michael Clemente said. "We'll leave the catering and bartending to others."

8. In a brief speech at the Democratic convention tonight, House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi said her grandkids call her "Mimi."

9. Actor John Leguizamo, most known for his role in _________, attended the DNC this evening.
