On the Late Show tonight, one day after President Obama appeared on the program, David Letterman invites Mitt Romney to have a seat on the couch. Tonight's episode was recorded earlier today.
From the New York Times:
“I don’t hate Mitt,” Mr. Letterman told his audience. “And I think now, more than ever, he and his lovely wife, Mrs. Mitt, are more than welcome to come on the show.”
In the now-infamous "47 percent" video, Romney said he doesn't appear in more talk shows in part because Letterman "hates me." The reason for the supposed hate: Because Romney's had more appearances on the Tonight Show, Letterman's competition.
“I certainly don’t hate Mitt because he’s done — because he’s been on [Jay] Leno’s show more," Letterman says on his show tonight. "I mean, why hate a guy who’s suffered through that?"
