Dick Morris: 'We Need to Stand Up Against' Obama's 'Socialist Agenda

"...stop him from fundamentally changing the United States."

Political strategist Dick Morris' prediction that Mitt Romney would secure a landslide victory was derailed on Tuesday night when President Barack Obama comfortably won re-election. This morning, the pundit appeared on "Fox & Friends," where he spoke out against Obama's "socialist" agenda and discussed yesterday's nail-biting electoral conclusion.

"We need somebody who can reach across the aisle. Barack Obama, in many ways, doesn't have a bipartisan bone in his body," host Steve Doocy proclaimed.

Morris responded by diving into the numbers and claiming that, despite winning, Obama is actually in a relatively weak position when compared to other presidents who have secured second terms.

"We need to understand just how weakly this president was re-elected -- by the skin of his teeth," the political operative explained. "He is the first president of the United States ever to be re-elected by less than he got elected by...every other president who's won a second term, gained in their margin."

Then, Morris used this logic to explain that Obama's re-election shouldn't signal a mandate that the public wants him to progress with far-left policy. While he encouraged Republicans to work with the president when possible, he also called for resistance to "the socialist agenda."

"We need to stand up against the socialist agenda and stop him from fundamentally changing the United States," Morris continued. "I don't think for a second that he's going to become bipartisan in his old age."
