The Price Tag on This House Is the Highest in America

As the housing market gradually makes its way back to pre-2008 levels, a few homeowners believe now is a good time to enter the market in a big way.

Take, for example, this property in Fairfield County, Conn., that has recently been put up for sale:

Nice, right? Would you believe that it comes with a asking price of $190 million?

Yes, Copper Beech Farm can be yours for the low, low price of $190 million (the highest asking price in the country).

“There are very few houses that are anywhere close to being like this house,” David Ogilvy told CBS New York’s Maurice Dubois.

“Copper Beech Farm is nestled behind a 1,800-ft driveway that winds its way through the 50-acre estate, which is home to a 12-bedroom, seven-bathroom Victorian mansion and offers a jaw-dropping view of the Long Island Sound,” the report adds.

The house includes lavish extras including massive enclosed porches and an elevator that services a three-story foyer.

“There are a few drawbacks to the home. It doesn’t have central air conditioning and the kitchen is in need of an update. The high price tag, it seems, is all about location,” the report notes.

Hmmm – kitchen or view?

“Well the location is the best part of waterfront in Greenwich,” Ogilvy said.

The property comes with nearly a mile beach-front property, which, as the report notes, “can be divided up into multiple lots.”

“Ogilvy told CBS 2 that he has already shown the house to five people who have the means to pay the $190 million asking price,” it adds. “The property also has a 75-foot pool with a spa, a greenhouse, and a grass tennis court.”
