Jay Carney: Americans 'Appreciate' Obama's Indecisiveness on Syria

“Appreciate a president who doesn’t celebrate decisiveness for decisiveness’ sake.”

If you were troubled by President Barack Obama’s indecisiveness on Syria over the last several weeks, White House press secretary Jay Carney says you're in the minority.

According to Carney, Americans “appreciate a president who doesn’t celebrate decisiveness for decisiveness’ sake.”

Americans also are heartened by Obama's openness to “new information” and that he adjusts his decisions based on it, Carney said Thursday according to Roll Call.

Carney also said Obama should get credit if Russia's plan of getting Syria to place its chemical weapons under international control to avert a U.S. strike is realized.

But Carney also acknowledged Russia for having put “its prestige and credibility on the line in backing this proposal to have Syria, the Assad regime, give up the chemical weapons that until two days ago it claimed it did not have [and] turn them over to international supervision with the purpose of eventually destroying them.”
