Calf Sports 'First of Its Kind' Spot That Looks Like State It Was Born In

"...boy that looks like Vermont."

A calf named "Monty" couldn't have been born in a more appropriate state.

The 1-month-old was born on Jed Ladd's family farm, which has been breeding cows since 1979 in Alburgh, Vt.

What makes this the perfect place for the baby bovine to call home is a spot on its head.

"My first notice was the complete outline of the white with black. And as I took a few minutes and looked at it, I said, 'boy that looks like Vermont,'" Ladd told WACX-TV.

Of the about 2,000 calves that Ladd says the family has raised in its decades of farming, the spot on Monty, a heifer whose name is a play-on-words drummed up by his daughter Meghan, is a "first of its kind."

"I'm glad to have a cow that's born in Vermont, has Vermont on it, and I'm a proud Vermonter too," Mary Ladd, who runs J&M Ladd Farm with her brother, told the news station.
