"Hornets' nest."
Television host Pat Sajak explained Tuesday afternoon that he was merely poking fun when he called global warming activists “unpatriotic racists.”
“Sometimes it's fun to poke a stick in a hornets' nest just to hear the buzzing,” Sajak said Tuesday.

Sajak's "hornets' nest" comment is in reference to a minor furor that erupted Monday night after the "Wheel of Fortune" host said in a tweet: “I now believe global warming alarmists are unpatriotic racists knowingly misleading for their own ends. Good night.”

@bdzbdz Only so much you can do within Twitter parameters.

But Monday's tweet shouldn’t come as too much of a surprise to people who follow Sajak's Twitter account. See, the “Wheel of Fortune” hosts uses his Twitter account mostly to joke around, his faux battles with Fox News’ Greg Gutfeld now the things of legend, and he regularly cracks jokes about global warming:
Help...climate changing...must send money to lots of places...a lot of money...hurry...time is short...not kidding...

Very hot weather: "We're all going to die!" Very cold weather: "There's a difference between climate & weather, moron!"

With ice caps melted, polar bears gone and kids no longer able to play in the snow, who's laughing now, huh?

Ok, I'll explain again: cold, snowy winters do not disprove global warming, but warm winters do prove it. Got it?

Still, despite the fact that he mostly kids around on Twitter, Sajak’s “unpatriotic racists” comment upset the usual suspects:
