In the Battle Between Man and Tarp, This Iconic Baseball Field's Grounds Crew Loses
August 20, 2014
"That is not how you cover an infield..."
The Chicago Cubs faced the San Francisco Giants Tuesday night in an important game — the Giants have solid playoff chances, the Cubs, not so much — but Mother Nature conspired against them.

The Cubs had prepared for the weather, with about a billion bags of Diamond Dry.

They also employed a leaf blower...

But the grounds crew's tarp failure was the main event.
One fan went so far as to set the whole debacle to "Yackety Sax" in a video posted to YouTube Tuesday night.
The consolation for Chicago fans: The game was eventually called in the Cubs' favor.
The umpires have called this an official game, with the #Cubs prevailing 2-0 in the middle of the 5th.
