The Insane Reason a 16-Year-Old Is Fighting for His Life With a Fractured Skull, Bleeding Brain and Broken Jaw

“It’s not a dangerous school."

A fight between at least two 16-year-old boys in a Detroit charter school has left one battling for his life with a fractured skull, bleeding in the brain, a broken jaw, and other injuries.

Willy Wallis Jr. also suffered a seizure and was last listed in critical condition, WDIV-TV reported.

Wednesday's fight at Allen Academy was reportedly over a pair of Nike Air Force sneakers Wallis was wearing, according to WWJ-TV.

“Perpetrator got the victim down on the ground, had him pinned to the ground, struck him several more times” Detroit police Capt. Nick Kyriacou told WDIV.

The fight began in a hallway and continued in a classroom, WDIV added; police said part of the attack was caught on a security camera, but most of it happened in the classroom, out of camera view, WWJ noted.

“The teacher was having difficulty getting the two apart. Fortunately, an older student was able to intervene and assist the teacher,” Kyriacou told WDIV. “They were taken to the principal’s office and shortly thereafter our victim suffered a seizure.”

Wallis' mother told WWJ her son was sucker-punched before entering the classroom and other students allegedly took part in the attack.

At least one student who fought Wallis turned himself in, WDIV noted.

“It’s not a dangerous school," school leader Brad Miller told WDIV. "This was an incident that occurred, but as far as the details of the case, I can’t go any further."

WDIV reported that Wallis was jumped two weeks ago allegedly over his shoes and this latest altercation may have been related to the previous fight.
