Group of Military Members Get Early Veterans Day Surprise

Really makes one proud to be an American.

A group of military members got an early Veterans Day surprise Friday at a Swansea, Illinois convenience store when an older veteran decided to pick up their tab – all $69.88 of it.

A man who saw the Good Samaritan moment said the man, who did not want to be identified, purchased a coffee, looked around and noticed there were about 15 to 20 young military service members.

"He first paid for his coffee and then he kind of stepped of to the side and told the cashier, 'I want to pay for all of this," one witness said.

When the soldiers thanked the veteran and offered to pay anyway, he simply shook their hands and told each one of them to be safe.
