Did You Catch the Shot Anderson Cooper Took at Former CNN Colleague Piers Morgan?

Less than 30 minutes into CNN's three-hour marathon coverage of New Year's Eve hosted by Anderson Cooper and comedian Kathy Griffin, Cooper issued a blanket apology.

The CNN anchor held up a simple placard with the words "I apologize" and announced, "I apologize for what she [Griffin] has said, for what she will say...and for what she's wearing." (Earlier in the night, Griffin revealed that the fur coat she had on was real fur.)

The night even included a dig against former CNN host Piers Morgan.

The program also featured a few of the allegedly unscripted moments that viewers have come to expect from the Cooper-Griffin year-end show.

After seeing how effervescent CNN's Richard Quest was acting with the people gathered in Times Square, Griffin invited him to climb up to their platform.

Quest bounded up the steps in minutes and produced a sprig of mistletoe that led to a quick New Year's Eve kiss from Griffin.

About a half-hour before midnight, Griffin convinced Cooper to let her have a little fun with his hair. She promised it would be "temporary — and shows how fantastic you are."

The ever-compliant Cooper ended up with a blue stripe on left side of his head, a red stripe on the left, giving him a red, white and blue head of hair.

The above CNN-produced montage, however, neglected to include another clip that is making the rounds on the Web.

It shows Griffin telling a story about former CNN host Piers Morgan ruining a photo she was taking with Oscar-winning actor Sidney Poitier at the Hollywood home of Jackie Collins.

After she shared the story of Morgan's hand invading the shot, Cooper responded, "Piers who?"

The comic did not blink, responding to Cooper's dig by saying, "You're gonna get some tweets — mostly from Piers."

Cooper finished the exchange with a subtle dig to his former colleague, "Listen, I hope he gets a job someday."
