A Man of the People': 'SNL' Parodies Donald Trump's Campaign in Season Premiere

"I'm just like you — a regular Joe — but better."

Donald Trump — played by Taran Killam — appeared on "Saturday Night Live" to clear up some issues with his campaign as he's "almost certainly your next president."

NBC's comedy show took a jab at the Republican frontrunner's campaign gaffes during the show's cold open as Killam's fellow cast member Cecily Strong joined him to portray Trump's wife, "Melania" who went on an accent-riddled tangent about her character's husband's left-leaning "ideas" despite running as a Republican.

"Yes, I know he's pro-immigration because I was in Slovenia, and Donald saw picture of me in magazine and then he call me and say 'hey, come to America,'" Strong said in a heavy accent. "And then I say, 'I can't come, you crazy old man, I don't have green card,' and he say, 'screw green cards, they're for poor people. Just get over here.'"

"What can they do? Round up all the illegal immigrants and deport them? That's impossible logistically. How are they going to find everybody," Strong said.

"We'll find a way," Killam said seriously.

The pair joked about the Republican candidate's controversial and media-grabbing comments with Killam claiming he speaks "from the heart." Strong said her character's husband was actually a "genius" for knowing what to say to get media attention that results in high poll numbers.

"I get in there, taxes go down, everybody gets a job, salaries go way up. We build a wall — it's huge," Killam said. "Over in China, they're going to say, 'now that's a wall.'"

"You see, this is how I know Donald is so smart because I hear this and to me it's just, you know, jumble of words like it make no sense, but you know, I'm not smart like Donald," Strong said. "I didn't go to Hogwarts School of Business."

Killam's Trump also joked that while he loves Fox News host Megyn Kelly — with whom the real presidential candidate has feuded with for the past few months — he also hopes she dies.

"Here's the bottom line," Killam said. "I'm just like you — a regular Joe — but better. A man of the people."

Democratic frontrunner Hillary Clinton also appeared Saturday night during the show in which she did an impression of Trump — a performance of which the real estate mogul didn't seem too impressed.
