Feds Warn of Threat Against Philadelphia-Area College Apparently Posted on Same Website Where Chilling Message Was Left Before Oregon Shooting

"If you are in that area, you are encouraged to stay at home and watch the news as the chaos unfolds."

The FBI and ATF are warning Philadelphia-area colleges of a threat of violence posted to a social media site, purportedly to take place Monday on an unnamed campus at 2 p.m. Eastern time.

A law enforcement source told the Philadelphia Daily News that the threat was posted Friday on 4chan, the same site where a threat against a "northwest" school was posted just a day before the Oregon mass shooting.

The threat reads, in part: "The first of our kind has struck fear into the hearts of America. His cries have been heard, even by the President. This is only the beginning. The Beta Rebellion has begun. Soon, more of our brothers will take up arms to become martyrs to this revolution. On October 5, 2015 at 1:00 PM CT, a fellow robot will take up arms against a university near Philadelphia. His cries will be heard, his victims will cower in fear, and the strength of the Union will decay a little more. If you are in that area, you are encouraged to stay at home and watch the news as the chaos unfolds. His sacrifice will echo throughout the nation."

Here's an image of the threat reposted to Imgur.com, which includes a green lizard-like character similar to the one appearing with the "northwest" school threat — but now it's wearing a black mask:

Temple University, the University of Pennsylvania and Drexel University posted safety alerts regarding the threat. It's unclear how many area colleges were contacted by federal agencies.

Penn's notice read, in part: "We have been advised  by ATF and the FBI that they have 'no knowledge of any specific threat.' However, in an abundance of caution we are working closely with Federal and local Law Enforcement Agencies to monitor this unspecified threat. The Division of Public Safety has increased our police, security officer and CCTV patrols."

"We ask that you remain aware of your surroundings, report any suspicious activity or behavior to the Division of Public Safety via 215-573-3333, Blue Light Emergency Phones or 511 from a University telephone," the noticed continued.

Drexel's noticed added that "since the shooting last week at a community college in Oregon, the FBI has seen similar social media postings throughout the country."
