An American Airlines pilot died in the middle of a flight from Phoenix to Boston on Monday, WFTX-TV reports.

The flight crew reportedly requested an emergency landing after the airplane captain became “incapacitated” during the flight.
“Medical emergency, captain is incapacitated, request handling for runway 108,” the other pilot says in an audio recording from air traffic control.
The plane was reportedly diverted to Syracuse, New York, at around 7:11 a.m. EST.
The pilot’s cause of death is unknown.
