Excuse Me, But I'm Very, Very Gay': Lesbian Who Claims Family Dollar Cashier Refused to Serve Her Because She's Gay Posts Video of Fiery Clash

"This is the worst antigay sh*t I've ever had to deal with in my 34 years."

A lesbian is claiming that she was denied service at a New Orleans-area Family Dollar store after confronting and clashing with a cashier who she said was speaking negatively about gays and lesbians.

"It started off with the cashier loudly voicing her opinion on how much she hates gay people," customer Melissa Langford alleged in a Facebook post published after the purported incident.

Langford went on to say that she heard the cashier call gays "sick" and say that she "had the right to refuse service to anyone she wants." As a result, Langford said that she started to "writhe away internally" and "wanted to cry right then and there."

Instead, Langford claims that she decided to speak up.

"I said, 'Excuse me, but im very very gay and you're really offending me. Think what u want but keep it to yourself,'" she wrote, going on to share the cashier's alleged response. "She. Flipped. Out. Went totally off. An exchange of words passed between us, and her and the guy in line ahead of me (which she denied service to as well cuz he was defending gay people)."

It was after Langford pulled out her camera and began recording that she claims that the cashier calmed down a bit. Footage of the incident does not include the female cashier refusing service, though it does capture a dispute between the cashier and a man inside of the store.

"I'm not dealing with these two," the cashier can be heard saying.

That's when a woman — presumably Langford — responds, "She won't serve us because I'm gay and he don't like non-gay people."

What proceeded was a back and forth between the cashier and the unnamed man, who repeatedly chastised the worker and called her names. Again, at no point is the cashier seen on video overtly denying service due to sexual orientation.

"You're f**king ignorant," the man shouted at her. "You've got to be the stupidest son of a b**ch working here."

Langford posted video clips to her Facebook page along with a message indicating how upset she was over the purported incident.

"This is the worst antigay sh*t I've ever had to deal with in my 34 years," she wrote. "Please SHARE. MAKE THIS VIRAL AND SPREAD IT TO THE WORLD THAT IT IS NOT OK TO HATE ANYONE FOR ANY REASON. WE ARE ALL ONE IN THE SAME."

In the end, Langford said that she believes that people are entitled to their feelings, but that what happened inside the store was entirely inappropriate. She claims to have reached out to Family Dollar, but said that she has not received a resonse.

"I think everybody's entitled to think what they want, but as a representative of a company, like a national chain, it's completely inappropriate and a blatant disregard for other people's feelings," she told WZZM-TV.

It is unclear if Langford was, indeed, definitively denied service over her sexuality. Representatives for Family Dollar have not yet returned a request for comment from TheBlaze.
