May 23, 2016
"Tough to watch."
A scary moment unfolded on the field Monday when Pirates pitcher Ryan Vogelsong was hit in the face by a pitch from Rockies pitcher Jordan Lyles.
Cameras captured Vogelsong fall to the ground and clutch his face after being struck by the pitch during a bases-loaded at bat in the bottom of the second inning.

"That is tough to see," one of the sportscasters said during the live broadcast. "Tough to watch."
Vogelsong was taken off the field in a medical cart and transported to a local hospital. MLB reporter Travis Sawchik tweeted that the injury related to the orbital bone surrounding the eye.
Vogelsong's wife, Nicole, took to Twitter later in the night to thank fans for the "outpouring of love and prayers." She said her husband was in stable condition and "will be ok."
The Pirates ultimately defeated the Rockies by a score of 6-3.
