I Have No Idea What She Means': Fla. Gov. Goes After AG Loretta Lynch for Defending FBI Scrubbing of 'Islam' References From Orlando 911 Transcripts

"But I can tell you what..."

Florida Gov. Rick Scott (R) on Monday blasted the Justice Department for omitting references to Islam from the 911 transcripts of the Orlando shooting. Attorney General Loretta Lynch said the redactions were made "to avoid re-victimizing those people that went through this horror," while emphasizing that the transcripts "will contain the substance of [the shooter's] conversations."

"I have no idea what she means," Scott said in response to the attorney general's statement. "But I can tell you what: I have gone to funerals, I've sat down and cried with the parents. I've gone and visited individuals in the hospitals. They are grieving."

"Now, they want answers. If it was my family, I would want answers. We all would like answers," Scott told Fox News.

"She should release everything that doesn't impact the investigation. I can understand if it impacted the investigation until this is finished. I get that. But she is not saying that. It doesn't make any sense to me. We have to get serious about destroying ISIS," Scott added.

Echoing similar statements he made just last week, Scott also criticized President Barack Obama for his plan to destroy the Islamic State.

"This is evil, this is ISIS," Scott said. "It's radical Islam. ... We need a president that’s going to say I care about destroying ISIS."

The Florida governor wasn't the only one to criticize the editing of the 911 transcripts: House Speaker Paul Ryan (R-Wis.) also went after the Justice Department for the omission, calling for investigators to release the transcript in its entirety.

"Selectively editing this transcript is preposterous. We know the shooter was a radical Islamist extremist inspired by ISIS. We also know he intentionally targeted the LGBT community," Ryan said Monday.

"The administration should release the full, un-redacted transcript so the public is clear-eyed about who did this, and why," Ryan said.
