The situation isn't related to unrest over police-involved shootings.
The Houston police SWAT team was in a standoff early Sunday morning after officers said a man opened fire on them, KPRC-TV reported.
Police were serving a warrant at the man's residence Saturday night, and initially he was throwing items at police. But investigators told the station he retreated into his townhome and began firing at police through a window. KHOU-TV reported that he locked himself inside.
One officer was hit with shrapnel but was treated without complications, police told KPRC.
Police had been dealing with the man for the past several days, the station reported, and said he may be suffering from a medical or mental issue. KHOU said the situation isn't related to national unrest over police-involved shootings.
