"My first day as a freshman."
Nick Cannon is going to college.
The 35-year-old actor and singer announced on social media Sunday that he has enrolled at Howard University, a historically black university in Washington, D.C. He posted a photo of himself next to a campus sign with a caption that read, in part, "My First Day as a Freshman!!!"

Fall semester classes officially began on Monday, according to the university's website.
"Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world," a separate post from Cannon read, quoting the late Nelson Mandella. Cannon also posted other famous quotes relating to the importance of education.
Cannon isn't the first celebrity to attend Howard University. As the DCist pointed out, Sean "P. Diddy" Combs, Phylicia Rashād and Taraji P. Henson also attended the school.
Actor Orlando Jones, who graduated from the College of Charleston in Charleston, South Carolina, offered Cannon this advice ahead of his first day: "Just remember @NickCannon "You're on time if you're 5 minutes earlier, You're late if you're on time!" #OneBandOneSound PS - Congrats."
