FBI Director Comey now backing CIA's claims that Russian interference helped Trump

President-elect Donald Trump's transition team and their supporters have repeatedly decried the CIA assessment that Russian hackers, with backing from President Vladimir Putin's government, interfered with the U.S. election in order to help Trump win.

They're going to have to add the FBI to the naughty list.

FBI Director James Comey now says that he agrees with the consensus view of the CIA  as well as Director of National Intelligence James Clapper — regarding Russia's efforts to influence the presidential election.

From the Washington Post:

Comey’s support for the CIA’s conclusion suggests that the leaders of the three agencies are in agreement on Russian intentions, contrary to suggestions by some lawmakers that the FBI disagreed with the CIA.

“Earlier this week, I met separately with (Director) FBI James Comey and DNI Jim Clapper, and there is strong consensus among us on the scope, nature, and intent of Russian interference in our presidential election,” CIA Director John Brennan said in a message to the agency’s workforce, according to U.S. officials who have seen the message.

“The three of us also agree that our organizations, along with others, need to focus on completing the thorough review of this issue that has been directed by President Obama and which is being led by the DNI,” Brennan’s message read.

Critics of the CIA have said that they were acting alone and according to partisan bias, but this statement strengthens the claim that there is a "consensus view" among intelligence agencies about the electoral interference. No doubt there will be a chorus decrying Comey again, claiming that this statement is an attempt to make up for the damaging letter about Hillary right before the election.
