Soldiers in 82nd Airborne reveals baby's gender for wife of recently fallen soldier in heartwarming video

A North Carolina woman's recent baby gender reveal was like no other — but for all the saddest, yet joyful reasons.

What happened?

Brittany Harris was just six weeks pregnant when she learned that her husband, Christopher Harris, had been killed by a suicide bomber in Afghanistan. Harris was a Specialist in the U.S. Army stationed at Fort Bragg in North Carolina.

But thanks to the fallen solider's comrades, Harris learned the gender of her baby in the most bittersweet way. Her husband's fellow soldiers, members of the 82nd Airborne, recorded themselves while still on deployment in Afghanistan armed with confetti canons to help Harris reveal the gender of her "little miracle."

"My boy Harris, we’re gonna do it for him, find out what kind of baby he is going to have," a soldier says in the video.

That's when the confetti canons pop and pink confetti rains from the ceiling, revealing that Harris is carrying a baby girl.

What did Harris think of the reveal?

Harris told WFMY-TV that her husband's unit has been there for her every step of the way since his sudden death. "They have been phenomenal and done everything they can to watch over me even from a distance," she said.

She also told the news station that her daughter is a fighter. Harris said she thought she might lose her daughter due to stress after her husbands death, but her daughter has remained strong. "There’s always a strong heartbeat," she said.

Harris and her husband would have celebrated their first wedding anniversary this month. Her baby is due in March 2018. Fortunately, Harris was able to share the news of her pregnancy with her husband shortly before his death in August.
