I know my God is a powerful one': QB Carson Wentz encourages fans with his faith after knee injury

Philadelphia Eagles star quarterback Carson Wentz is out for the rest of the season after suffering a torn anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee during the team's win over the Los Angeles Rams on Sunday, the team confirmed.

But after the victory — which secured a playoff birth and the NFC East championship for the Eagles — the injured Wentz let his Christian faith shine once again:

"NFC East Champs!" he tweeted. "So proud of the resiliency of this team. Such a special group of men. And I greatly appreciate all the prayers! I know my God is a powerful one with a perfect plan. Time to just lean in to him and trust whatever the circumstances! #Proverbs 3:5-6."

The Bible verse Wentz cited reads: "Trust in the Lord with all your heart / And do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He will make your paths straight."

Wentz's faith — along with the faith of many of his Eagles teammates — has been a big topic this season.

A major story earlier this fall focused on wide receiver Marcus Johnson's baptism in a North Carolina hotel swimming pool.

The team recently released a video on the shared Christian faith of three players: Wentz, wide receiver Torrey Smith and safety Chris Maragos.

After Wentz, 24, injured his knee, he managed to stay in the game for four more plays. And following what would be his final snap of the 2017 season, he tossed a fourth-down touchdown pass that not only gave the Eagles the lead but set a new team record for touchdown passes (33) in a season.
