Nancy Pelosi lectures about wealth inequality at town hall — then heckler asks about her net worth

House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) was bashing President Donald Trump’s tax reform package at a Phoenix town hall on Tuesday when a heckler pointed out Pelosi’s apparent hypocrisy.

And it was all caught on camera.

What happened?

Video of the incident begins as Pelosi is explaining how Trump’s tax plan and budget plans don’t reflect American values.

"So, this isn’t about Democrats and Republicans. This is about the United States of America, about our children’s future. And again it can’t possibly be a statement of values for us to talk about, as Martin Luther King said, ‘God never intended for one group of people to live in superfluous inordinate wealth while others live in abject deadening poverty,'" Pelosi said.

"These are kitchen table issues for America’s families,” she added. “Most people are not in deadening poverty, but some are. But most people have to struggle to make ends meet—"

That’s when a woman began shouting from the audience.

"How much are you worth, Nancy? Are you in abject poverty?” the audience member heckled.

“No, we’re not talking about that,” Pelosi shot back.

How rich is Pelosi?

Pelosi and her husband are very wealthy. According to OpenSecrets.org, Pelosi is one of the 10 wealthiest members of the House and has a net worth that exceeds $100 million. Perhaps that's why the California Democrat continually refers to $1,000 bonuses — which hundreds of employers have freely given millions of Americans thanks to Trump's tax bill — as "crumbs."
