A report Tuesday said that outgoing White House Communications Director Hope Hicks told Congress in her testimony that she couldn’t provide the emails they requested because she was hacked.
Hope Hicks hacked
Hicks spoke before the House Intelligence Committee in their investigation into Russian election meddling, and reportedly told them that one of her email accounts had been hacked and she lost access to both accounts because of it.
One of her email accounts was personal, while the other was used in her capacity as a member of Trump’s transition team.
It was unclear which had been hacked and why it caused her to lose access to the other – she told lawmakers that she wasn’t very technologically savvy.
On the way out
Hicks said at the end of February that she would be resigning her position at the White House.
Hicks was one of the youngest members of the administration, and the youngest to serve at her position in the history of the White House. She is also a longtime friend of the Trump family.
Many believe her relationship with Rob Porter, who resigned from the White House after allegations of domestic abuse from two of his former wives, eroded the trust between the president and her.
